Orange Prize for Fiction 2012 Shortlist

I haven’t read any of these, have you?

I am little disappointed that one of my favorite books, Gillespie and I, isn’t on the list, but I look forward to reading the rest of these. Hopefully I can read them before they announce the winner on May 30, 2012!

Congratulations to the authors on the shortlist!

    • I’m thinking I might start with “The Forgotten Waltz” for no other reason than that I see it’s available at the library! I’m also going to read “Half Blood Blues”, since The Readers are interviewing the author soon. Happy reading!

  1. Of the shortlist, I’ve only read ‘Half Blood Blues’ – it was good rather than great. I loved ‘Gillespie and I’ too so share your surprise that it didn’t make shortlist. I’ve read Anne Enright before and liked her work but others will be new for me so am looking forward to reading them – like you I better get cracking if I’m to finish before May 30th!

  2. I think I should be a bit realistic and hope that I can read 2 or 3 of these before the winner is announced! I’m sorry to hear that ‘Half Blood Blues’ wasn’t great, but I think I might give it a go anyway. ‘The Forgotten Waltz’ is the first one I’m going to read. Good luck!

  3. Haven’t read any of these. I’ll have to add them to my to-read list! The cover for State of Wonder has caught my eye, so I’ll probably be going for that one first. (That is, after I finish the books I’ve already checked out. So many books, so little time!)

      • My tbr list is actually smaller on goodreads, but only because I still keep most of my list on paper haha 🙂 I carry a planner, so I use one of the notes pages. I find a written list easier to use at the library for some reason – probably because I’ve been doing it that way for so long. 🙂
